I’ve had a Very Long Day 

Channel your inner Chandler Bing and draw yourself up a very hot, very bubbly bath. Get yourself a very Instagrammable bath bomb and light an excessive number of candles. I’ve found that locking yourself in a bathroom and submerging your naked body in a tub of liquid is a sure-fire way of unwinding after a tiring day. Bonus points: indulge yourself with skincare products that have pretty packaging. If you feel good on the outside, you’ll feel good on the inside too.

Bend and Stretch

If the phrases ‘cat cow’ and ‘downward dog’ make you question what your pets get up to, you’re not alone. Yoga doesn’t have to be all about green juices, Bali retreats and expensive activewear. In fact, you can do it in the comfort of your own bedroom with the help of your good mate YouTube. Think of it as mindful stretching. It’s a chance to tune into your body and get out of your head. All you need to do is focus on your breathing and do what feels good for you. 

Best Dressed

I’m a firm believer that clothes have magical properties and that they have the power to change how you feel. So dress to impress yourself, whatever form that may take. Black skinny jeans and a leather jacket? A floaty, floral dress? Your three day old pyjamas that could do with a wash? Nothing but your best knickers? Go on, dress up (or dress down). Feel good in your rockin’ bod.

It’s a Date

Take yourself out – there’s no need to wait for a special someone to court you. Put on a cute as heck outfit, stroll down to your local café or park and spend the afternoon with yourself. Scheduling downtown isn’t a luxury, it’s needed. Humans need to relax and recharge, it’s a fact of life. So go all our. A LARGE chai? With OAT milk? You deserve it, girlfriend. 

Spread the Love

One of the best ways to feel good about yourself is, strangely enough, making others feel good about themselves. There’s almost nothing better than that warm, fuzzy feeling you get when you light up another person’s day. A simple but genuine remark is all it takes. Compliment their cooking, their cool socks, their infectious laughter, their new glasses, their ability to put up with you – that last one deserves a medal.

Get Shit Done

Okay, real talk. Self-care isn’t all sunshine, rainbows and fluffy pamper sessions. The truth is it’s harder than that. It’s about realising your full potential and kicking your butt into gear on days where you don’t want to leave your bed. So get out that pen, paper and your best highlighters. We’re getting organised. To-do lists are your saviour, jot down everything from watching uni lectures, sending out resumes to decluttering your wardrobe. Before it feels too overwhelming, just remember: one thing at a time. Besides, nothing beats the satisfaction of ticking off a damn box.
