Whatever!

Some days, you just gotta throw your hands in the air, exhale loudly and give up a little. Yes, I know, I should totally be a motivational speaker... But what I mean is, sometimes we should take a break from this lil' journey we call "life" and - with the possibility of sounding lame - embrace actual living. It's so easy to get caught up in the dramas of school, the struggles for the future and whatever else that occupies our minds and to forget about the simple pleasures in life.

Just the other day, the sun was shining and the weather was too good to miss, so I decided to have a picnic in my backyard by myself. As sad as it may sound, it was one of the most relaxing and blissful arvos I've had in a while. Soaking up the sun whilst listening to music and painting my nails, I was in the best mood everrrr and it helped me regain some sanity which school has kindly ridded me of.

So, y'know, just wanted to remind you all that even though life can be so busy and distracting, don't forget to take some time for yourself because you rock and totally deserve it. That's 'nuff of my cheesy self for now so head on down to see my procrastinat-y self dressed in some very comfy clothes in front of some laundry. Because, you know... whatever!

So congratulations if you have made it through all the bends and loops of the post - rest assured, you are at the end! To be honest, I think I wrote about this topic as at this very moment I should be studying for a maths methods SAC I have tomorrow. It covers 15 chapters which is everything we have learnt this year... and I just started revising. But... whatever! But hey kids, stay in school and work hard.

Love you all,

The End is Nigh

Dear Winter,
I want to start by telling you that what we had - for those three months - was real and is something I'll treasure forever. I'll carry the fond memories of us in my heart - you and your pouring rain, windy days and grey skies and me with my abundance of layers, runny noses and endless shivering.

At times, our relationship felt like it was the best thing that had ever happened to me, but lately everything has felt wrong. It pains me to admit this, but my love for you has faded away. The cold days, unrelenting winds and wet puddles have lost their charm and have just turned into exasperation and an inconvenience.

I don't want you left in the dark - I'm seeing someone else. Their name is Spring. Just last week I spotted a beautiful, blossoming, pink cherry blossom tree and it was love at first sight. Flowers are beginning to bloom, bees are back and buzzing and the sun is shining a little more than before.

I'll always remember our time together as a special time in my life. And Winter, I just have a feeling that in about nine months we shall meet again.

The end of Winter approaches us... 22 days to be exact, and as much as I love the chilly season (which isn't that much) I am excited to see Spring arrive. The thought of wearing just ONE layer amazes me and I'm thrilled at the thought of wearing all my skirts again (Mumma's missed you all)

I'm also totally in love with my new boots from Missguided which I scored for $22, oh yeah! They are patent (shiny) and burgundy and make me feel magical. Honestly. On that note, I'm pretty proud of getting two posts out in just the one week! So that's all from me for now.

Bisous,
Maggie xx

How to be a real Parisian

Ah, Paris - the city of love. You've got to be kidding yourself if you say that you haven't ever dreamed of taking a visit to the dreamy land... With its gorgeous buildings and beautiful people, it is usually near the top of most people's to-go list. And who better to show you around then a real Parisian herself? I've scouted my fave French gal Pia (Instagram: @pia_mbd) to present to us some of her must-dos when in Paris. So without further ado, here it is!

To be a real Parisian, you gotta learn to get lost.
MONTMARTRE

In Montmartre, of course, have a peak at the Sacré Coeur and enjoy some touristy selfies but soon enough, venture in the back streets where the real Parisian life lies! There, you'll find dorky paved roads, colorful houses and you'll feel like you're in a little countryside town, but every now and then, from Rue des Abbesses to Rue Lepic, between two white buildings, you'll catch a breathtaking view reminding you that you're still in the city of love. Then, getting down the hill using some mythical stairs, you'll end up in downtown Montmartre - after posing in front of the Moulin Rouge, head to Rue des Martyrs and its 'bio bobo' cafés for an afternoon tea and some unique shopping.

LE MARAIS

Le Marais is all about amazing designer shops (rue Poitou), artsy galleries (the most famous one being the Centre Pompidou, on top of which you get a panoramic view over beautiful Paris) and cute cafés (Merci, l'Anticafé). Walking through its tiny streets, don't forget to look up to see some pretty building aesthetics. Hungry? Queue at 'L'As Du Falafel' to get closer to the Jew culture. Then as night falls, go party in some funky gay club!

CANAL ST MARTIN

Walking away from the revolutionary vibes of Place de la République, take a walk on the docks of the Canal Saint Martin and take some very instagrammable outfit pics in front of the street art walls. Then walk your way up to reach the Parc des Buttes Chaumont, then once up there, wait for the sunset reflection on the pound and like a real Parisian, have a lil' beer and chat with friends.

CAFES

Some Parisian cafés are quite famous. And it's kind of difficult to discover new ones. But concept stores are multiplying all over the town and it's about you to dare try something new. Run away from the mythic and not so worth it Café de Flore (even though you ought to explore and have a shopping spree in St Germain!) and go to Soul Kitchen, in downtown Montmartre, a Parisian HQ where you can have a peaceful break drinking a lait speculoos you won't find anywhere else.

*All fabulous writing and photos by Pia

A big shoutout to Pia for being so lovely and setting aside time to write up this post! Nothing like a dose of wanderlust to brighten up your day/night, right?

Anyway, sorry for the absence, I've been busy with school and work and life and all that jazz but another post should be coming your way soon...ish.

Until next time,
Mags xx
